The Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs Specialty Clinics offer players the opportunity to hone one fundamental skill in a 60 to 90-minute (as indicated below) session with our best instructors. Each clinic has a narrow focus that emphasizes an essential skill through small group work in stations and consistent error detection and correction.
All sessions will be led by the Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs staff. These clinics are designed to give players a leg up on their competition by teaching and refining individual skills such as passing, shooting, puck control and battle/compete levels in a fun and supportive environment.
We are currently offering the following clinics (see below for full details):
Class sizes will be limited so please register early to avoid disappointment.

The Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs are excited to host a Sens Hockey Programs FUNday to wrap up the fall season. This FUNday gives you the opportunity to get into game action for the first time!
Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby, McDavid all have mastered the skill and are known as players who make others better around them. Nothing moves faster than the puck. Join us to work on the skill of passing. We will teach you what goes into making those crisp accurate passes. Will include backhand passes which often do not get practiced enough, give & go's, area or space passes, receiving passes, getting open to receive a pass, bank passes, and saucer passes (age appropriate).
Being able to skate backwards as well as foward is what can makes a good skater great - take our very own Thomas Chabot as an example. Being an efficient and powerful backwards skater includes proper use of edges and body mechanics together. We will work on backwards stride, starts, stops, transitions, crossovers, puck carries and much more.
Shoot To Score
Develop the skill that puts the puck in the back of the net by shooting with accuracy, quickness and power just like Matt Duchene. We will develop the proper groundwork footing including proper hand placement, weight transfer and follow through. We will include backhand shots which often do not get practiced enough, scoring in tight areas, slap shots & one timers (age appropriate), tracking rebounds, tips & deflections and much more.
Develop the skills needed to control the game in all areas of the ice just like our very own Matt Duchene. The session will focus on fundamental stickhandling techniques performed both stationary and in-motion, and progress through advanced maneuvers with significant game application.
Puck Battles & Body Position
Teams who possess the puck more are typically the ones who win. Develop the skills required to win and maintain the puck, including; angling, puck-protection and control, quick starts/feet, and using your stick and body effectively to defend and win-back the puck.
Upcoming Specialty Clinics will be posted here as soon as details become available. Please email [email protected] for more information.
"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for yesterday evening's clinic. Xavier loved the clinic and he can't wait to go again. He said he's learned more in that one session about his shots that he ever did. The session was excellent and you guys all did a great job with the kids. We are impressed and will be talking about it in Clarence-Rockland. Well worth the drive! Thanks."
