Are you looking to prepare or enhance your players ability to play with contact? Join our team of expert instructors with the Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs!

The addition of contact in hockey changes the game significantly and alters the mindset players need to have in game situations to be successful. Not only in how to take and deliver hits effectively, but how to navigate space, take proper routes, and angle players in either full ice or small areas.

Instruction will be delivered in both small group and full ice settings. Small groups will be used to provide specific technique teaching, while full ice drills will be used to evaluate and check the progress of all participants.

Please note this program is for players who are currently playing the 2026-2027 season at the competitive level. Registrations are subject to review.

Information

Over the four offered sessions, players will work with our experienced instructors to focus on the following concepts:

Body Mechanics for Contact:

  • Learn proper body stance, positioning, and leverage to deliver hits safely and effectively.
  • Understand how to best receive contact from other players.

Game Situational Readiness:

  • Be taught effective routes and angling to best prepare for contact in game situations, regardless of position.

Awareness and Safety:

  • Develop the ability to play with their head up to foresee contact and dangerous situations. This will instill a player’s contact readiness and develops their overall hockey sense and awareness.

Full program details will be provided to registered families one week prior to the start date of the program.

If you have questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact our team at senshockeyprograms@sensplex.ca, or give us a call at (613) 599-0222.
